The York University Lions men's hockey team beat the Windsor Lancers at Canlan Ice Sports by a final score of 4-1 on Friday, Nov. 16. The Lions win streak now sits at three games and they've picked up wins in six of their last seven games.

The Lions got off to a fast scoring start as Lions' defenseman
Jack Goranson scored the first goal of the game just over two minutes after the puck drop with an assist by
Josh Harris and
Alex Mowbray.Â

The Lions and the Lancers battled it out during the remainder of the period, with both teams having their chances to score with 11 shots on goal by the Lancers and 10 shots on goal by the Lions in the period before the Lions were able to sneak a goal in before the end of the period.Â

With 1:45 remaining, the Lions' produced a smooth goal right in front of the Lancers' net as
Scott Feser scored with assists by
Reid Jackman and
Morgan Messenger. The Lancers did attempt to score at the last second of the first period of play, however, the shot, which was taken from the left side of the net was saved by Lions goaltender
Mack Shields.

The Lions and the Lancers finished the first period of play with the Lions leading 2-0, while the second period of the game saw a goal from both teams.Â

At 6:50 of the second period, York forward
Daniel Nikandrov scored the third goal of the game for the Lions with assists provided by defenceman
Bradley Forrest and Jackman with his second assists of the game.

Four minutes later, however, the Lancers were finally able to make an appearance on the scoreboard as Windsor's Justice Dundas' shot secured the Lancer's first goal, which was assisted by Ethan Skinner and Kyle Hope.

In the third period, the Lions took the only goal of the period as the Lions'
Stefano Pezzetta scored with an assist by
Josh LaFrance.

The Lions, who have added a third game to their winning streak, will be playing Wilfred Laurier tomorrow, Saturday, November 17 at Canlan Ice Sports.
