The York University Lions men's basketball team was in tough against the No. 1 nationally-ranked and undefeated Carleton Ravens and was defeated by a score of 87-57 in Ottawa on Friday night.

The first quarter was a tight affair in which the Ravens led by just five after 10 minutes of play. But they turned it on in the second quarter, outscoring the Lions 24-8 to take an insurmountable 44-23 lead at the half.

The Lions found their shooting stroke again in the second half but it was not enough to narrow the gap on a team that has been the most dominant in U SPORTS over the last decade.

Matthew Carating led all Lions in scoring with 12 points and added one assist and one steal, while
Stefano Spagnuolo put in 11 points to go along with two rebounds and two steals off the bench.

The Ravens had three players with 10 or more points. Yasiin Joseph led all players with 17 points and added one rebound, four assists, two steals and one block. Off the bench, Stanley Mayambo put up 11 points, five rebounds and one steal, while Mitch Jackson chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Lions, now 2-20, will finish their season on Saturday night when they face the No. 10 nationally-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees in the last game of the year for both teams. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
