The York University men's soccer team faced the Brock Badgers for the second time this season, this time at Alumni Field on Sunday afternoon.

The fast-paced game saw a 2-1 win for York University in their second last home game of the regular season. The game saw an early goal from York's second highest scorer, Christian Cavallini in the seventeenth minute, giving York an early lead against the Badgers, the seventh ranked team in the OUA West division.

In the 32nd minute of the game, Brock responded with a goal by mid-fielder Matthew Wnukowski, tying the game 1-1.Neither team was able to score again for the remainder of the first half. However, York was able to provide three more shots compared to Brock's single attempt.

Eleven minutes into the second half of the game, York forward
Omar Marzouk, who scored York's sole goal in their previous game against the McMaster Marauders, scored the second goal of the game to put the Lions in front 2-1.

Brock tried to gain the momentum back as they almost scored their second goal when two of their forwards advanced down the field, moving past York's defensive players, but York's
Eddie Lay was able to kick the ball away from the net to the left side of the field.

The rest of the half saw good attempts by Brock to try to tie the game but York's defensive players shut down their offence, especially
Josh Kiselyov who ensured that the ball remained on Brock's side of the field.

Goalkeeper
Mike Argyrides was able to save five out of the six shots against him and the Badgers almost scored at the 89th minute, however Argyrides deflected the ball to the far left, preserving the victory

The Lions head on the road for a seven hour drive to Sault Saint Marie, Ont. in their next game to face the Algoma Thunderbirds on Saturday, Oct. 6.
