The York University women's soccer team played their second game of the weekend at Alumni Field against the Brock Badgers on Sunday, Sept. 30. The home team beat the Badgers in a 2-0 win with both goals scored by fifth-year veteran
Christina Morelli and assisted by forward
Stephanie Lamanna.

The first half of the game saw very strong defense from both sides. York defenceman
Teni Odetoyinbo made great plays on two Badgers attempts to shut down their scoring chances, while goalkeeper
Tamara Orlando protected York's net as she produced three saves in the first half.

York and Brock's offense were equally as strong in the first half of the game. York saw eight shots against the Badgers who are ranked 8th in the OUA West division. The Badgers saw seven shots against the Lions but were unable to find the back of the net. Â

At half time, the Lions and the Badgers were tied nil-nil.

In the second half, York took over the lead early on as midfielder Morelli, scored in the first minute of the half. At the 65th minute, Morelli and Lamanna combined again for the second and final goal of the game, which was also Morelli's fourth goal of the season.

The game ended in a 2-0 win for the Lions, giving them their fifth win of the season.

The Lions play next when they take on the Algoma Thunderbirds in Sault Saint Marie, Ont. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1pm.
