LIONS TOPPED BY GEE-GEES IN FRIDAY NIGHT ROAD GAME

The York University men's basketball team were defeated by the No. 7 Gee-Gees 92-58 on Friday evening at Montpetit Hall in Ottawa, Ont.
 
The Lions were up against tough competition facing the No. 7 ranked team in the country and the third place team in the OUA East standings. The Gee-Gees were consistent through all four quarters and maintained a large lead on the Lions after a solid opening quarter.
 
The Lions kept the game close through the first period and trailed 15-12 with two minutes remaining. The final two minutes, the Gee-Gees added seven more points to lead the Lions 22-12. The second quarter the Gee-Gees extended their lead to end the half by a score of 47-27.
 
Despite the Lions putting up 20 points in the third quarter, the quarter ended with the Gee-Gee's leading 74-47 and the Gee-Gees continued their strong play in the fourth quarter and won by a final score of 92-58.
 
Gianmarco Luciani earned 17 points and five rebounds, while DeAndrae Pierre had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists. Ottawa's Gage Sabean had a big game earning 25 points, four rebounds and one assist.
 
The Lions will face the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the Carleton Ravens tomorrow, Jan. 19 in Ottawa, Ont. Tip-off is 8pm.
