On Sunday, the York University Lion's men's soccer team had a tremendous 10-0 win over the Algoma Thunderbirds in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., at Superior Heights Field.
The No. 4 nationally-ranked Lions came out to a strong start and scored their first goal in the first minute of the game from forward

The Thunderbirds picked up their defence and held the Lions at bay for most of the period. Fortunately for the Lions, they pushed through and scored three more goals in five minutes, all coming from Jacovou, giving him four in the match heading into halftime.
The second half started the same as the first, with the Lions scoring early in the first five minutes from midfielder
Jon Alec Duenas. In the 62nd minute of the game forward

Eddie Lay in the 67th minute. Two minutes later, Jacovou scored his fifth and final goal of the game, giving him eight goals on the season. Duenas scored his second goal in the 74
th minute, and defencemen
Francesco Sinopoli closed the scoreboard in the 81
st minute of the match with the tenth goal for his side.
The win gives the Lions a definite bye heading into playoffs as they now control top spot in the OUA West Division, six points clear of second place.
The Lions will play their next game in London, Ont., at 8:15pm against the Western Mustangs.
