Box Score On Friday, the No. 3 nationally ranked York University Lions men's soccer team prevailed over the Western Mustangs by a score of 1-0.

The game started off nerve-wracking with both teams playing stellar defence resulting in neither landing on the scoreboard. With a rare scoreless first half, the Lions aimed to lay on the pressure to get some points on the board going into the second.

The second half came out just as intense as the first, with both teams bidding to score first. Fortunately, late in the second half, the Lions managed to crack the standstill and score in the 63
rd minute with an unassisted goal from forward
Merci Yuma. The goal brought some life back into the team, and they defended against the Mustang's strong efforts. With their Perseverance and resilient defence, they managed to close the game.

Having already secured top spot in the OUA West Division standings, the victory extends the Lions win streak to five games, eight points clear of second place Guelph Gryphons.

The Lions play their last game of the season on Sunday, where they could see their unbeaten streak against OUA opponents reach a historic 50 games. Only the Windsor Lancers stand in their way – Kick-off is set for 3:15 pm at Alumni Field.
