LIONS DROP HOME GAME TO RAMS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT

After a game cancellation last week due to bad weather, the York University Lions women's hockey team finally faced off against the Ryerson Rams at Canlan Ice Sports on Wednesday, Feb 13. The Lions lost 3-1 against the Rams who are currently ranked sixth in the OUA.

Ryerson was able to secure two goals in the first period of the game to give them an early lead against York. At 8:02 the Rams' Avery Horlock was able to get a goal past York's goaltender Lauren Dubie, giving the visiting team their first goal of the game. Just over a minute later, Ryerson's Erika Crouse scored the second goal for the Rams, which was assisted by Kryshanda Green and Brooklyn Gemmill.

Just minutes before the end of the first period, York's Jenna Gray, provided the Lions with their first goal of the game while scoring her third goal of the season.
At the end of the first, after nine shots-on-goal for the Rams and six for the Lions, Ryerson led 2-1.

In the second period, neither team was able to find the back of the other's net. York, however, had eight shots against Ryerson and Ryerson was able to fire two more than York, but to no avail.

In the third period, Ryerson was able to cap off their trifecta goals as Crouse scored her second goal of the game while getting the puck past Dubie. The Rams finished with a 3-1 win over York.

The Lions will be facing off against the Rams one more time this week as they play against at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in two days on Friday, Feb 15.
