The York University Lions women's hockey team lost 6-2 to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, Feb. 9 on the road at Varsity Arena.

Natalie Dean with assists from
Kara Washer and
Ellen Donaldson, scored the first goal of the game to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.Â

The Lions remained the sole team on the scoreboard for the remainder of the first period, however in the second period, Toronto's Kassie Roache responded 36 seconds into the start of the second period with a goal for the Blues. York picked up on the pressure from the opposing team when
Erin Locke, with assists from
Tayler Murphy and
Kara Washer, scored the second goal for York. The Blue were able to add two more goals on the scoreboard before the end of the second by Mathilde De Serres and Christine Chao to give them a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.

In the third period, the Blues were able to score another trio of goals from Stephanie Ayres at 4:16, Kiyono Cox at 8:00 and an empty net goal from De Serres at 10:34 to give them a 6-2 win over the visiting Lions.Â

The Lions will be playing the Ryerson Rams on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in their next game. Puck drop is scheduled from 7:15pm.
