The No. 4 nationally ranked York University Lions men's soccer team handed the Brock Badgers their first defeat of the season, winning 3-0 on Sunday night at Alumni Field.

It took only 16 minutes for the Lions to get on the scoreboard. Third-year forward
Merci Yuma found the back of the net for the third time this season. Four minutes later, former U SPORTS All-Canadian,Â
Cristian Cavallini, got his first goal in his first start for the Lions. Cavallini placed his shot in the bottom right corner of the net in the 20
th minute putting the Lions up 2-0.

Minutes away from halftime, the Lions would add their third and final goal of the match courtesy of
Soji Olatoye. Pouncing on a cross into the box in the 43
rd minute, Olatoye used his speed to beat his defender on to the ball, clinching the match at 3-0.

After tying their opening game, the Lions have gone on to win their last four matches placing them atop the OUA West Division standings.

Third-year keeper
Mike Argyrides recorded his fifth clean sheet in as many matches, making him the only goalie not to concede a goal in the OUA.

The Lions will now hit the road for their next four games. Waterloo, Ont. will be their first stop as the play against the Laurier Golden Hawks at University Stadium on Friday night. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:15pm.
