The No. 3 nationally ranked York University Lions men's soccer team won their fifth game of the season as they beat the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks 9-3 at University Stadium in Waterloo, Ont., on Friday night.
It was York's
Soji Olatoye who was the high scorer for the Lions as he was able to secure a trio of goals during the game. 27 seconds into the game, third-year forward Olatoye secured the first goal for the Lions. Laurier's Glorious Okpali responded soon after, tying the game 1-1.
York was able to score three more goals in a row in the first half, which were all unassisted goals from
Lucas Puntillo,
Merci Yuma, and Olatoye, who scored his second goal of the game, helping the Lions lead 4-1 against the home team.
The Golden Hawks Okpali was able to score a second goal in the first half, which helped Laurier catch up with the Lions momentarily.
The Lions led 4-2 by the end of the first half.
In the third quarter the Lions continued their scoring streak and were able to fire another five goals against the Golden Hawks. It was York's third-year Puntillo who scored the fifth goal at 55:34, and Olatoye who scored the sixth, his third goal of the night, with an assist by Yuma.

Cristian Cavallini. The Golden Hawks were able to catch a break and score their third goal of the game before York's
Milan Drapic scored two goals, including the second one at the last minute of the game. The first goal was assisted by third-year
Omar Marzouk, and the final by
Adam Parda.
The Lions finished the game with a 9-3 win. They will be playing the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday, Sept. 29
th at Guelph's Alumni Field. Kick-off is set for 3:15pm.
