The York University Lions women's soccer team beat the Laurier Golden Hawks with a massive 4-0 win at an away game at University Stadium on Friday night.
It was York's fourth-year veteran
Kiyani Johnson who scored three quarters of the Lions goals, which put an end to the Lions three game draw streak.
At 13:37 into the game, after shots byÂ
Vanessa Salvaggio and
Marissa Castellano, which went wide, Johnson scored an unassisted goal against the Golden Hawks, not only securing the first goal for the Lions but the first goal of the game.
About 10 minutes after Johnson's goal, York's
Jotam Chouhan also scored an unassisted goal, bringing the Lions to a 2-0 lead against the seventh ranked team in the West. Johnson finished the half with another goal assisted by Salvaggio.
The Lions, who are ranked third in the West, finished the first half leading 3-0 against Laurier who fired two shots on goal compared to the Lions who fired 11.
In the second half, Laurier increased their shots on goal and were able to get seven on the Lions net. However, Johnson was able to score the final goal of the game at 67:27, giving the Lions their 4-0 win against the Golden Hawks.
The Lions will be playing the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday, Sept. 29
th at Guelph's Alumni Stadium. Kick-off is set for 1pm.
