The York University Lions men's volleyball team lost 3-0 to the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon as they played their second game of the weekend.
 
The first set saw the teams past the 25-point mark. The two remained close throughout most of the set, with the Gryphons only ever getting five points ahead of the Lions. Towards the end of the set, the Lions began to make their move on the Gryphons and they tied the visiting team 19-19, then they tied again 21-21, at the 23^rd, 24^th, 25^th and 26^th points. The Gryphons were able to ultimately take the set 28-26, bringing the match to 1-0.
 
The Gryphons also took the second set, this time by a 10-point margin. York's Andrew Shotbolt and Aleksander Grzegorczyk had four and three kills, respectively, which were not enough for the set win.
 
The Gryphons who now had a 2-0 lead against the Lions finished the game by also taken the third with a 25-17 win.
 
Shotbolt finished with a team-high 10 points on eight kills, one service ace and one block.
 
The Lions are now 4-6 on the season and will travel to North Bay, Ont., for their lone game next weekend against the Nipissing Lakers, which begins on Sunday at 3pm.
