LIONS HANDED NARROW LOSS TO NO. 2 RAMS ON THE ROAD

The York University Lions women's volleyball team was defeated in four close sets by the No. 2 nationally ranked Ryerson Rams on Saturday at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
 
Chiara Da Silva finished the game with 41 assists, adding to a total of 584 assists this season, which places her first in the OUA.
 
Olivia Kim finished with the most points for the Lions, contributing a total of 17 during the game. Veteran Sarah Williams was right behind her with 14.5 points, 10 of them kills.
 
In the first set, Da Silva started the game serving five times in a row, bringing the score to an early 5-0 lead in York's favour. Later in that set when the Lions were leading 13-6, Williams served four times in a row to bring the score to a 17-6 lead for the Lions. The Lions led 23-12 towards the end of the set but the Rams made a tremendous comeback for a 26-24 finish.
 
The Rams also took the second set 26-24 for a 2-0 game-lead.
 
The Lions were able to make a comeback in the third set with a 25-16 win, turning the game around 2-1 with the Rams still leading, but the Rams finished the final set of the game with a 25-21 win.
 
The Lions are now 8-8 this season. They will be playing their second last game of the season against the Trent Excalibur on Friday at the Tait McKenzie Centre.
