Dieu Merci Yuma continued his remarkable statistical pace, notching his second hat trick of the season to lead the York University Lions men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over the Trent Excalibur at Alumni Field Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- York started the game with a surge of offensive opportunities and quickly seized command of the game's pace, which paid off in the end, after Soji Olatoye was fouled in the box by a Excalibur defender, resulting in a penalty kick. Yuma took the shot and went on to score in the 21st minute giving York the lead.
- After half time, Yuma then scored his second goal on his third shot of the night in the 68th minute, assisted by Olatoye again. He completed the hat trick with a header just eight minutes later, making it 3-0 Lions.
- Omar Marzouk capped off the night with a goal, finally breaking through in the 87th minute after taking seven shots on net.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- With his goals, Yuma now has 10 on the OUA season, and is right on the heels of McMaster's Dusan Kovacevic for the conference lead (11).
- York improves to 3-0 at home, extending their winning streak to three games.
- York outshot the Excalibur 21-1, and have now peppered opposing netminders with 46 shots in their last two games.
