ARPAN KAUR // yorkulions.ca

The York University Lions extended their spectacular statistical run, capturing their fourth win in a row, leading them to a 4-0 victory over the Trent Excalibur at the Justin Chiu Stadium Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • York took charge of the game's momentum early on, Niko Sigur, a first-year midfield from Burnaby, B.C, put the Lions on the board with his first OUA goal in the 15th minute.
  • Omar Marzouk finished the first half with a goal in the 31st minute with an assist from Dieu Merci Yuma, first of his two assists of the match.
  • The Excalibur were rewarded with a golden opportunity to score in the 48th minute — a penalty kick. However, Raiden Ramdial fired the shot wide of the net, keeping York's two-goal lead in tact.
  • Yuma then added a goal to his stat totals in the 57th minute on his third shot of the game, assisted by Marzouk, to strengthen his goals per game stat line.
  • Marzouk rounded out the afternoon with a goal, beating Trent goaltender Jacob McPhee in the 87th minute.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
  • Marzouk had a prominent presence on the game's stat line with three shots, two goals, and an assist to help lift the Lions past the Excalibur.
  • York extends their winning streak to five games, improving their away record 2-1.

York heads over to Ottawa, where they become familiar with another one of their OUA opponents, the Carleton Ravens. The Lions will continue with their slew of back-to-backs with the first game at the Ravens Perch on Friday, Oct. 22 beginning at 6:30pm.
