RAVENS WIN OVER LIONS RESULTS IN SPLIT OF BACK-TO-BACK

The York University Lions women's basketball team were unable to follow up their upset win over the No. 6 nationally ranked Carleton Ravens with a similar performance Saturday afternoon, dropping the contest 100-68 at the Tait McKenzie Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Carleton picked up the pace in the early going, notching 21 points in the first quarter to York's 12.
  • The Ravens added to their lead in the second quarter, earning the stanza's first five points. York would only be able to cut their deficit to as close as 13 before the end of the quarter, when the Ravens broke out offensively for 32 total points.
  • That would be the difference maker despite the Lions tying Carleton's 28 fourth quarter point total. The Ravens hit triple digits on the second-to-last possession of the game, with Tatyanna Burke nailing a lay-up.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
  • York hit the same number of three-pointers as Carleton despite the lopsided score, nailing seven. Kirsten McGrath led the way in that category, going 4-for-7.
  • Despite McGrath's accuracy beyond the arc, Kiara Leveridge was the Lions leading point-getter, amassing 18 on the evening.
LOOKING AHEAD

York now heads into a monthlong pause in their schedule during December exam season and the holiday break. They will play non-conference games against Laurier and Waterloo on Jan. 5 and 7 respectively, then resume their conference schedule with road contests at Laurentian on Jan. 14.
