Box Score The York University Lions women's basketball team returned to the court Wednesday night in a road contest at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, falling to the No. 6 nationally ranked Rams 79-55.
The win kept the Rams undefeated on the year, and dropped York's record to 3-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rams got out to an early lead and never looked back, taking a 28-7 advantage after the game's first quarter. Marin Scotten led the way for the Rams, posting six points with three assists in that first quarter.
- However, the next two quarters were all York's, with the Lions outscoring the Rams in both frames, cutting the lead to 57-46 heading to the final quarter. That's where the Rams pulled away, sealing their seventh win of the season.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- Cyanna King led the way offensively for the Lions with 14 points. Kirsten McGrath wasn't far behind with 13, experiencing an offensive breakout.
- King went 10-for-12 on free throws, the best of any Lion. She drew more fouls than anyone else in the game on either team.
- Lauren Golding added to her team lead in defensive rebounds with eight on the evening.
LOOKING AHEAD
These two teams will re-engage on Lions home turf Saturday, with York hosting the Rams for a 2:30pm tip-off.
