The York University Lions women's hockey team was defeated 4-2 by the Rams in their first road game of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Rams put themselves on the board early in the first period less than two minutes into the game on a goal by Brooklyn Gemmill, scoring her second goal of the season with assists from Keelin Farren and Cailey Davis.

  • Not long after, the Lions found their way past the Rams defensive wall late in the first period, as Courtney Gardiner rifled the puck past Rams netminder Rachel Seeley on a power play at 17:38, cutting the lead to 2-1.
  • The second period went in the Rams' favour as Lauren Nicholson found the net twice, scoring her second and third goals of the season with assists from Olivia Giardetti and Savannah Bouzide on both goals, at 6:27 and 12:36.
  • The Lions made one last push in the third as Sydney Paulson found the net for her first goal of the season at 12:14 off an assist by Tayler Murphy.
