Three first half goals from the York University Lions field hockey team propelled them to victory against the McMaster Marauders Wednesday evening in Hamilton, Ont.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Goals from Elyse Ives, Alyssa Brooks and Polly Campbell were the difference, helping keep York on pace with the Toronto Varsity Blues for first place in the OUA East division.
- York had the first three tallies in the matchup, before the Marauders got on the board in the second half.
- Serena Vilde stood tall against the McMaster offence, tallying four saves to keep York with a comfortable lead.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Lions will learn their playoff seeding this weekend, but they still have their fate in their own hands. They play the Western Mustangs in a contest which will serve as a must-win game for York if they wish to keep pace with the Toronto Varsity Blues and Guelph Gryphons for the top two spots in the OUA.
The game begins at 1 pm, with a special graduate ceremony honouring the team's graduating student-athletes before things get underway.
