Ava Jones will never have an easier clean sheet.
The York University Lions goalkeeper, making her fourth straight start, did see a shot even directed toward her net, let alone on target, in the Lions 1-0 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
The win clinches a playoff berth for the Lions for the 7th straight year and the 22nd time in 23 years. They are now in a tie for second in the OUA West table with 21 points with just two games remaining.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game was scoreless for most of the afternoon. 99% of it, in fact. That all changed in stoppage time when Jotam Chouhan scored her 5th of the year to seal the late victory for the Lions
- The only booking of the game with a straight red card assessed to Laurier's Tara Isama in the 51st minute.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions will play the penultimate game of their regular season Friday night against the Brock Badgers. The game begins at 6:00 pm.
