Nia Fleming-Thompson's two goals propelled the York University Lions women's soccer team into a showdown for first place with the Western Mustangs Sunday afternoon, after a crucial 2-1 win over the Brock Badgers.
The Lions win, their seventh of the year, puts them one point behind the Mustangs with one game to play – and it's against them.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fleming-Thompson kicked the game off with a goal in the 21st minute, and then followed it up with another marker shortly thereafter.
- Her second goal in the 26th minute came in quick succession, and proved to be all the Lions needed to wrap up their road regular season schedule with a win.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Lions now finish their regular season with a game against the Western Mustangs on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Alumni Field. The winner of this game will take first place in the OUA West division standings, and secure home field advantage until at least the OUA semifinal
