The York University Lions men's soccer team no longer controls its own destiny for playoff seeding heading into this Sunday's season finale against the Western Mustangs, thanks to a 0-0 draw with the Brock Badgers Friday evening in St. Catharines, Ont.
With the draw, the No. 1 nationally-ranked Lions sit one point behind the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks for first in the overall OUA standings. York has a game Sunday, and the Ridgebacks also play this weekend. An Ontario Tech win Saturday would lock York into second place regardless of Sunday's result.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions controlled the pace of play throughout the game, but were unable to register any goals despite outshooting the Badgers 9-3.
- Joe Mac had York's only appearance on the scoresheet, registering a yellow card.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Lions now finish their regular season with a game against the Western Mustangs on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Alumni Field.
