After scoring in each of the three periods, the York University Lions women's hockey team earned their third win of the season with a 3-0 win over the Brock Badgers.
The win was highlighted by a 24-save shutout from
Julianna Thomson, who equaled their career-high in shutouts with her first of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brooke Anderson scored the game's opener in the first period, managing to squeeze the shot past Tiffany Hsu in Brock's goal after some great play from Lexy Anonech.
- The second was scored by Alexa Giantsopoulos with a shot off the crossbar and in over Brock goaltender Tiffany Hsu's left shoulder.
- The final goal was scored by Jenn Shaw to seal the game for the Lions with Anonech recording her third assist of the season.
- Anderson also had an assist on each of the other two Lions goals, bringing her into the team-lead of seven points on the season.
- York held off a late Brock charge shutout despite being penalized in the final minute of the game and the Badgers bringing on an extra skater for a 6 on 4 advantage. The Lions held strong to record an impressive victory.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Lions travel to Varsity Arena on Saturday, Nov. 19 where they will look to exact some revenge on the regional rival Toronto Varsity Blues at 3 pm before returning to Canlan the following day to face the Laurier Golden Hawks at 2:15 pm.
