The York University Lions men's basketball team dropped their 2022-23 OUA season opener in Ottawa, Ont. against the Carleton Ravens by a score of 97-66 Friday night at the Ravens Nest.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Ravens came out hot, as they outscored the Lions 28-14 in the first quarter, building off an early seven-point run. Carleton was led by a nine-point first-quarter performance by Aiden Warnholtz.Â
- The Ravens set the tone early in the first and never looked back as they stretched their lead to double digits. By the end of the first half, the Ravens had a 53-32 advantage over York, putting the game out of reach for the Lions.
- After multiple defensive and offensive attempts, the Lions were not able to level up with the Ravens, as they were outscored in all four quarters leading to a 97-66 victory.Â
NOTABLE NUMBERS:
- Travon Hamilton led the way for the Lions with an 18-point performance and two steals, accompanied by Yaw Antwi-Boasiako with 14 points.Â
- The Ravens were led by a 20-point performance by Warnholtz and Grant Shephard.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions have no time off, as they're right back in action Saturday, Nov. 5. The Lions will remain in Ottawa to take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Montpetit Hall. The tip-off is scheduled for 8 pm.Â
