Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

RAMS HAND LIONS LOSS AT HOME

The York University Lions men's basketball team engaged in another tight game against the Rams, but came up short in the end.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first quarter went York's way, with Somto Dimanochie hitting three shots from beyond the
  • arc for a team-leading nine points at half. It helped the Lions to a 28-22 lead.
  • The visitors got back into the game afterwards, however. Rams forward Nick Hamilton hit a three-ball with 3:48 remaining in the first half to cut the lead down to one point, then the Rams hit a foul shot to tie the game moments later. The teams traded points and went into the break at half with the score at 36-35 Rams.
  • The Rams would hold that scoring pace into the second half, narrowly outscore York and hold them off in the late stages of the game despite an offensive push by the Lions.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
  • It was yet another impressive game for Chevon Brown. In two games since rejoining the Lions lineup, he has led the team in scoring on both occasions. This time he put up 21.
  • Ankit Choudhary led the way for the Rams, notching 20 points in 30 minutes before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

"We've played an extremely difficult schedule. It's been an uphill battle, and we've continued to fight to give ourselves chances. At the end of the day, it all comes down to consistent execution down the stretch." — head coach Nate Philippe

LOOKING AHEAD

After back to back games against these Rams, the Lions will now get familiar with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, who they play in back-to-back contests, Wednesday and Saturday at Tait McKenzie Centre. The Lions and Ridgebacks are right beside each other in the OUA East Division standings.
