The No. 6 nationally ranked Rams took an early lead over the York University Lions women's basketball team and didn't look back. They swept the two-game season series with a 88-47 win over York.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Much like their Wednesday contest against York, the Rams took an early lead over York in the first quarter, outscoring them by 13, finishing the half with a 19-6 lead. Jama Bin-Edward led the way with six points on back-to-back threes in the quarter for the Rams.
- However, the game took on the same storyline as Wednesday in the second quarter – the Lions drew back into the game with eight points from Emma Jonas.
- The Rams then exploded offensively in the third, scoring 30 points to York's seven. That put the game out of reach for the Lions.
Â
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- York had an easy time keeping offensive possession after shots, outrebounding the Rams 31-28 and 11-6 offensively in the game.
- The game's difference came in shooting percentage, with the Rams hitting 52.6 per cent of their shots. York hit 28.8 per cen in the contest.
- Bin-Edwards was lights out from beyond the arc for the Rams, going 7-for-9.
- Jonas went 2-for-4 for a team-high 50 per cent in the same stat line.
