Emma McCamus came up with 24 points as the York University Lions women's basketball team topped the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 79-57 at the Tait McKenzie Centre on Wednesday evening, improving their season record to 4-5 and snapping a three-game losing streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game's two opening quarters started began with both sides keeping pace, Lauren Golding leading the Lions with 10 points at halftime.
- The visitors got back into the game early in the third, as Dalyssa Fleurgin's three-pointer gives the Ridgebacks a lead of 38-34. Not long after, McCamus responded, drilling two big threes to regain the Lions lead and end the quarter 55-44.
- The fourth quarter was all Lions, as they would hold onto their scoring pace, and outscore the Ridgebacks 24-13 in the fourth.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- McCamus led the Lions with an astounding game-leading 24 points and four steals.
- Accompanied by Golding who put up a double-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals.
- Cyanna King and Kiara Leveridge both with 10 points each.
- The Ridgebacks were led by Fleurgin with 17 points, as she went 2-2 behind the arc.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lions return to play on Saturday, Feb. 19th as they remain home to play their second, back-to-back showdown against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, in search of a series sweep. The tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
