An early start for the Rams proved to be what they needed against the York University Lions women's hockey team, as they handed York a 6-2 loss after scoring three goals in the game's opening three minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
- Avery Horlock, Emily Baxter, Lauren Nicholson had the game's first three goals at 2:01, 2:47 and 3:18 of the first period to put York in a deep hole early in the game.
- The Lions would respond before the period ended, with Courtney Gardiner scoring at 13:10 of the first, cutting the Rams lead to two goals heading to the intermission.
- The two-goal lead would stay intact after 40 minutes as well, with both teams trading goals. Ellen Donaldson added her first of the season, and Mia Morano got a fourth goal for the Rams.
- The Rams would add two in the third to pad their lead before the end of the game.Â
LOOKING AHEAD
Â
The Lions return to the ice with another tough challenge next weekend, when they'll play three games in three days, first against the Nipissing Lakers, followed by a two-game miniseres against the No. 1 nationally ranked Toronto Varsity Blues. That twin bill begins with a matchup on York University's Keele campus Feb. 25, with a 7:15pm puck drop. Â
