After taking advantage in the final three quarters of the game, the York University Lions women's basketball team earned their second straight win over the Laurentian Voyageurs. This one, another decisive victory, ended 70-52.
The win lifts York even further into winning territory, with a record of 7-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Laurentian actually had the advantage by two points after the first quarter, looking to avenge a loss to York the evening before. They led 17-15, after holding a six-point lead as late as eight minutes into the quarter.
- However, the Lions woke up after the first, and got eight points from Emma McCamus in the second quarter as they put up their highest offensive output in the game, taking a 36-31 lead over the Voyageurs.
- McCamus would end up with 29 points and a monster performance as Laurentian's offence dried up in the last two quarters, and York ended the game with an 18-point victory.
LOOKING AHEAD
Two crucial games with playoff implications will take place next weekend when the Lions head to Kingston, Ont., to take on the Queen's Gaels on Mar. 4 and 5 for back-to-back games at the Queen's ARC. The Gaels, currently 5-3, are one spot up on York in the standings due to winning percentage.
