LIONS WIN STREAK EXTENDS TO FIVE WITH CONVINCING WIN OVER QUEEN’S

A big third quarter and 23 points for Cyanna King proved to be the winning recipe for the York University Lions women's basketball team in Kingston, Ont. They took down the Queen's Gaels 82-72 in their fifth win in a row, and first over Queen's this season.

The win brings them closer to vaulting past Queen's for fourth place in the OUA East Division standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams were even through most of the first half before the Lions went on a 7-2 run to end the second quarter and take a 40-35 lead into half time.
  • York pulled away in the third quarter before the Gaels clawed back the deficit, but it wasn't enough as the Lions held on for a 10-point win.
NOTABLE NUMBERS

  • Aside from King's 23 points in the victory, Lauren Golding also had a double doube, with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
