A Benjamin Evanish hat trick was not enough for the York University Lions men's hockey team to pull away from the Brock Badgers. A 5-3 Brock win snapped the Lions' three-game win streak, which included a win from earlier that week over the Badgers.
 
York now sports a 5-5-2 record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 

• The Badgers struck first in the opening frame, with the game's opening goal coming shortly after Brock killed off a penalty. Cole Tymkin one-touched a pass in behind Cole Ceci to get the ice breaker for the Badgers.
  After Brock made the score 2-0, the Lions got on the board with a man advantage. After a Christophe Cote hooking penalty, Evanish cashed in on a passing play to cut the Brock lead in half 10:46 of the second.
• The rest of the period featured two Owen Guy goals for Brock, opening up a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
• Evanish earned two goals, including a power play marker, when the teams came back out for the third period. The Lions pressed hard as the game drew closer to an end, but the Badgers ultimately held York off and added an empty net goal with one second remaining.  

LOOKING AHEAD
 
York will have a quick turnaround, heading down to Toronto to play their rival Varsity Blues Tuesday evening, with a 7 pm puck drop at Varsity Arena.
