A fourth-quarter Queen's Gaels comeback sank the York University Lions men's basketball team in a one-possession game Friday afternoon at the ARC Main Gym in Kingston, Ont.
With the loss, the Lions record dropped to 3-10 on the year, officially eliminating them from OUA playoff contention with three games remaining in the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions clawed away at the Gaels lead for the duration of the second quarter, eventually taking it on a buzzer-beating lay-up by Chevon Brown to give York a 28-27 lead, their first of the game.
- It was built up to as many as 12, and the Lions started the third quarter with that lengthy lead.
- The fourth quarter then ran by the same script as the second, only with the roles reversed. Cole Syllas nailed back-to-back three pointers to tie the game back up at 66-66 with 1:04 to play.
- Connor Keefe then took the lead for Queen's nailing the go-ahead basket to make it 68-66 with 22 seconds to go. It was all the Gaels needed to lock down the contest.
LOOKING AHEAD
York will wrap up their series with Queen's Saturday with another 2 pm start at the ARC Main Gym.
