York badminton player
Jason Ho-Shue was named OUA athlete of the week for the period ending Mar. 6 Monday morning, after earning male tournament MVP at the OUA badminton championship.
Ho-Shue, who represented Canada at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics last summer, went 2-0 in singles, 4-1 in doubles and 3-0 in mixed doubles to lead all Lions. He also earned OUA all-star honours for his efforts on the court.
He posted a 9-1 record in his matches and leading the Lions to a silver-medal finish, their best result since winning the gold medal in 1999.
He is the sixth Lions student-athlete to earn OUA athlete of the week honours this season. He follows men's hockey player Benjamin Evanish, women's basketball players Cyanna King and Lauren Golding, men's soccer players Dieu Merci Yuma and George Tzimas, and field hockey player Amber Sandhu.
It's the third week in a row a Lions student-athlete has won the OUA award, which is given to two or three athletes a week, pending on the preceding week's events. Evanish and Golding are the two most recent winners for York.
