An extra-time penalty-kick goal by Sebastian Guerrieri was not enough for the Waterloo Warriors to break past the No. 2 nationally-ranked York University Lions.
The Lions extended their remarkable statistical run, seizing their fourth straight win, leading them to a 2-1 victory at the Warrior Field Sunday afternoon. They also extend their unbeaten streak to 12 games dating back to September 2021.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Much like their first encounter on Thursday, both teams demonstrated their rivalry on the pitch. Both sides were locked in until Issac Bradbury broke past the Warriors' defence to put the Lions on board in the 44th minute,
- The second half played out in similar fashion. It wasn't till the 86th minute that the Lions would respond again with a goal from Ugatua Ebikeme, who scored his first career OUA goal to make it 2-0.
- With the match in extra-time, a Warrior player was fouled in the box by a York defender, resulting in a penalty kick. Sebastian Guerrieri took the shot and went on to score to cap off the game at 2-1.
