LIONS DROP 2-0 DECISION TO BADGERS

The York University Lions women's hockey team played host to the Brock Badgers at Canlan Ice Sports on Saturday night, seeking redemption after their tough 3-1 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues last night in their home opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the opening period, both teams were relatively evenly-matched, with numerous quality scoring opportunities exchanged. The Badgers had the upper hand on the shots clock, outshooting York 7- in what was a scoreless opening frame.
  • Just three minutes into the second period, Mia Landry of the Badgers took advantage of a loose puck right in front of the net and beat Dominique Chuaqui, who was making her second start of the year for York, to break the scoreless tie and give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Brock carried that lead into the dressing room after 40 minutes.
  • Madelyn Walsh doubled Brocck's lead almost five minutes into the third period, as she found the back of Chuaqui's cage to make it 2-0 Brock.
  • Despite the Lions outshooting the Badgers 8-5 in the final period, they were unable to solve Brock netminder Kenzie Harmison, as the Badgers prevailed by a score of 2-0.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions will conclude their three-game homestand the Waterloo Warriors on Friday, Nov. 3rd at Canlan Ice Sports. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
