The York University Lions women's hockey team clashed with the TMU Bolds at Canlan Ice Sports following their disrupted win streak against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks this past Thursday evening. In the first of a four game home stand, the Lions fell to the TMU Bold 2-0 on Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first period was a deadlock, with both teams showcasing remarkable defensive and strong offensive intent. Emma Wedgewood's phenomenal 10 saves for the Lions ensured a scoreless first period.
- In the second period, the scene played out much like the first. Despite notable chances to score, Wedgewood's stellar performance thwarted any potential goals leading to a quiet and uneventful stretch dominated by strong goaltending, stifling both teams offensive efforts.
- In the final period, TMU's Cailey Davis broke through the Lions' defence, scoring the first goal with 5:38 left to play, followed swiftly by another by the Bolds on an empty net. This quick succession of goals led to their 2-0 victory over the Lions.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions will host the Guelph Gryphons for their final weekend of home games before the winter break at Canlan Ice Sports on Friday, Dec. 1. Puck drop is at 7:15 pm.
