LIONS DROP HOME OPENER TO WARRIORS 73-57

The York University Lions women's basketball team hosted the Waterloo Warriors in their season, and home opener Friday evening. A young team still working on adapting to each other and their style of play, the Warriors defeated the Lions 73-57.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Warriors lead the first 17-10, collecting 13 total rebounds, each team committing five fouls.
  • Bilan Khadar and Katie Leudy led the way for the Lions in the second quarter, trailing by 12 points going into the second-half of the game 36-24.
  • The Warriors came out quick to start the third quarter, while the Lions offense was slow to produce giving Waterloo a 14-point lead heading into the final quarter of action.
  • Kiara Leveridge's 16 points for the Lions was not enough to secure the lead, and a second-half comeback attempt from York was disrupted by the Waterloo offense.
