The York University Lions football team returned home to face the Carleton Ravens on Saturday afternoon in their annual red and white spirit game. Both teams entered the game looking for their first win of the season, and the Lions would look to get it with rookie Brayden Jupe under centre.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lions put up a solid opening drive on defence, forcing the Ravens into a two-and-out.
- However, after being pinned deep in their own territory later in the quarter, they conceded a safety. The ensuing Carleton possession finished with a touchdown from Hunter Brown, and the visitors quickly led 9-0.
- On the next Carleton drive, the biggest defensive highlight of the day saw Scott Bouwhis intercept Tristan Lefebvre deep in Lions territory
- Unfortunately, the Lions could not convert on the interception and were forced to punt Carleton would add a field goal and lead 12-0 after one.
- The Ravens blew it open in the second on touchdowns from Brown, Kaseem Ferdinand and Joshua Ferguson, plus an 80-yard punt return TD from Othman Brahm, and led 39-0 at the break.
- The Ravens added a pair of field goals and a touchdown from Frederik Hachey, and came away with a 52-0 victory.
