The York University Lions women's soccer team enters this weekend in another home-and-home series against the No. 1 OUA West seeded McMaster Marauders. After dropping both contests this past weekend against the Western Mustangs, the Lions look to knock down the top ranked team.
On Friday, the Lions started the game strong with a goal 30 seconds into the game by Maia Torelli. Unfortunately, the game was soon tied 1-1 as Western capitalized on an opportunity in the 6th minute. Back-and-forth the offense was strong, with both teams creating quality chances, however, the Mustangs muscled a 3-2 win in the second half. On Sunday, the Lions traveled to London where they were held scoreless in a 2-0 loss to the Mustangs.
The McMaster Marauders lead the OUA West with 17 points, and enter this weekend on a three-game win streak. Entering Friday's away matchup, the York Lions remain seated in sixth place and will work to disrupt the flow of the Marauders offense.Â
