The York University Lions soccer teams hosted the Windsor Lancers on Friday night at York Lions Stadium. The women's team enters their matchup coming off of a dominant road sweep of the Algoma Thunderbirds last weekend, beating them by a score of 20-0 across the two matches. The men's side is coming off of a split against Algoma, the most recent a 3-1 loss on Sunday.
Women's Match:Â
Both teams started the match with a fast offensive tempo. Sabrina Fabiano and Bianca Jack had early shot attempts, while goalkeeper Charlotte Phillips made two saves in the opening minutes to keep the game scoreless. York began the second half with the same aggression on offence that they showed in the first. The Lions had six shot attempts in the first ten minutes, but couldn't add to the lead. The Lancers would thenn tie the game up in the 57th minute with a Brooke MacLeod marker. Windsor's Kailyn Robertson added two more markers for the road team, with a goal in the 81st minute, and another via a penalty kick in the 85th, to make the match 3-1 in favour of Windsor. York attempted to rally, but struggled to find the target, hitting the net on only five of their second half shots hitting the target.Â
While York outshot Windsor 24-14, and Windsor collected fourteen fouls, Windsor was able to stage the second-half comeback to win 3-1. The loss drops the Lions record to 5-2-2 on the year.

Reigning OUA West MVP Christian Zeppieri assisted on a Justin Cicchillo marker in the 25th minute to put the Lions up 2-0. Zeppieri connected with Cicchillo for a goal in the 51st minute – Cicchillo's second of the night – to make the match 4-0. Just two minutes later, Accettola dribbled through the Lancers defence and found the back of the net to make the game 5-0 Liona.
