The York Lions men's hockey team is continuing their streak of away games this weekend. They're scheduled to play on Thursday, October 30th at 7:30 pm against the Guelph Gryphons (3-4), followed by a Saturday night showdown against the Laurier Golden Hawks (6-2) at 7:00 pm on November 1st. York is currently 1-6 against some tough competition, but each game is an opportunity for the Lions to show their skill and tenacity and move up the OUA standings.

Up first, the Lions will face the Gryphons for the first time this season. Last season, the Lions were able to pull off a 4-3 win against Guelph. Tensions are typically high between these teams; in their last six match ups, four games have been decided in a shootout or overtime.

In the Saturday evening matchup, the Lions will need to show up ready for a high-caliber opponent, as the Golden Hawks currently lead the OUA West division. The Lions have already seen the Golden Hawks this year, suffering a 4-2 loss. However, in that game, the Lions broke through with two goals in the third period, showing the Golden Hawks that the game isn't over until it's over. This weekend, the Lions will look to keep that late-game momentum going.
