The York University Lions field hockey team hosted the McGill Martlets on a sunny Sunday at Alumni Field in the second leg of a weekend doubleheader, with the Lions were looking to sweep the series after dominating the Martlets 7-0 on Saturday afternoon,
York almost took the lead in the eighth minute mark from a penalty, but Gates McAlister was denied by Gabriella Fourkas, keeping the game goalless after the opening quarter. Four minutes into the second, York's Juliet Redelaar found herself inside the 18-yard box but Fourkas would be called to action again to deny Redelaar and keep the Lions off the board. However, York finally broke the deadlock in the final minute of the first half, when Jewel Lew scored her first goal of the season from a corner to put the Lions ahead to conclude the first half.
Katie Tye would extend York's lead to 2-0 with her third of the year, off helpers from Natlaie Brown and Lew. Eight minutes later, in the final minute of the third, Redelaar would score her second goal of the weekend and her third of the campaign to make it 3-0 after three.
Five minutes into the fourth, Avery Davis added a fourth goal with a solo effort. The game ended 4-0 in another dominant display from the Lions, as the Martlets did not have a single shot on goal this game.
