LIONS DROP FIRST GAME OF WEEKEND TO LANCERS

The York University Lions men's hockey team hosted the Windsor Lancers on Friday night at Canlan Ice Sports. The Lions came into this game after beating Toronto Varsity Blues in overtime and were looking to make it back-to-back wins. Then Lancers on the other hand came into this game off an overtime loss to Lakehead on Saturday night and were looking to bounce back.

The Lancers scored first 14;27 mark, through a Colton Smith strike for the only goal of the opening period. 13 seconds into the second period, The Lancers made it 2-0 on a goal Dylan Schives to double their lead and put them up 2-0. The Lions responded at just 1:41 later when Ethan Strik scored his third goal of the campaign to make it 2-1 Windsor. The Lancers carried that 2-1 lead ino the third.

They added some insurance made it 3-1 courtesy of Ty Towes with 5:01 to play. The Lions were unable to put a dent in the deficit over the final five minutes, and the Lancers held on for a 3-1 victory.

LOOKING AHEAD 

The Lions play the third game of their five-game homestand Saturday night against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 pm.
