The York University women's hockey team hosted the University of Toronto Varsity Blues at Canlan Ice Sports this evening. The Lions came into this game after a heartbreaking shoot out loss to the Carleton Ravens and were looking to bounce back.
Toronto wasted no time, taking the lead just five minutes into the game. The Varsity Blues extended their advantage to two goals seven minutes into the second period. With five minutes remaining in the second period, the Varsity Blues capitalized again, extending the lead to three. This third goal was the result of a defensive miscommunication at the back, which the Varsity Blues easily converted.
In the third, the Lions managed to cut the deficit to two as Kaitlin Teixeira netted one off a pass from Lola Massey. At 11:33, Toronto brought the lead back to two. They held on and took the game 4-1.
