LIONS PREVAIL OVER PALADINS IN STRAIGHT SETS TO CAP OFF 2025

Coming off a 3-1 win over the RMC Paladins last night, the York University Lions women's volleyball team looked to repeat those results in a rematch Saturday afternoon in Kingston. Entering the match 3-6, the Lions looked to win their third straight to close the fall term and continue their push towards playoff contention.

The Lions came out strong in the first set, with a .333 hitting percentage. Amassing 11 total kills to the Paladin's 7, with Victoria Herrington and Julia Typa getting active early. RMC was able to hold up early in the set, but eventually caved to York's vicious attack, as the Lions went up 1-0 in the match with a 25-16 first-set win.

York continued their strong offensive showing in the second, this time with 13 kills accounting for more than half their points in the set, hitting a robust .346 in the middle set. The Lions took the second by a score of 25-19 to go up 2-0.

Looking for the sweep, the Lions kept their composure, equaling the amount of kills as the second set with 13. Although rising to try and avoid another set loss, York ultimately prevailed, taking the set 25-20 and taking the match in straight sets, 3-0.

Typa and Herrington led the way for the Lions, Typa finishing the match with a .474 hitting percentage. Herrington, meanwhile, was solid as well, with a .286 hitting percentage.  Madi Vickerson stole the show on the service line with a flurry of aces, accounting for five of York's seven in the match.
