The York University Lions women's volleyball team faced off against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday evening. Coming off a win from the previous night's game, the Lions looked to build on their momentum and shift the course of their season.
York opened the first set strong, scoring the first point off a block by Yulia Glazko. Later, Alexis Miller added a one-handed block to close the gap at 12-13. Despite the Lions efforts, the Varsity Blues regained control and captured the first set 25-16.
The second set saw the Varsity Blues continue their dominance. Toronto maintained the lead throughout the set, securing a 25-12 win. For York, Quincy Johnson was crucial on the offensive attack, while Victoria Herrington was a crucial player on defence.
Tensions ran high in the third set as the Lions struck first. While the Varsity Blues were able to extend an early lead. After a timeout, a strong block by Johnson brought York within five points at 10-15. Despite the push, the Varsity Blues held their momentum and closed out the set 25-15, winning the match 3-0.
