LIONS ENDURANCE PREVAILS IN OVERTIME WIN

The York University Lions men's Hockey Team hosted local rivals, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, at Canlan Ice Sports on the first snowfall of the season. The Lions came into this game after a heartbreaking overtime loss at Waterloo and were looking to bounce back.

Owen Gilhula drew first blood for York, notching his 7th goal of the year off an assist from Keeton Oakley. Just seconds later, the Lions capitalized on a Toronto mistake, as Mason Svarich buried the puck to give the Lions the lead heading into the second period.

After a scoreless second frame, the Varsity Blues pulled one back early in the third. The drama ratcheted up late in the game when Toronto snatched the lead with seven minutes remaining. York's Aiden MacIntosh immediately answered, tying the score. But just as the Lions felt they were pulling away, the Varsity Blues knotted it again, forcing overtime.

The thrilling contest was finally decided in the overtime period when Harry Clark netted the game-winner, securing the York Lions their second win of the season.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions will now turn their attention to next weekend, when they will face off against the Windsor Lancers on home ice at the Canlan Ice Sports Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 pm.
