LIONS DROP SECOND CONSECUTIVE CONTEST TO LANCERS

The York University Lions women's volleyball team faced the Windsor Lancers in the second match of their weekend doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Lions were looking to bounce back after being swept by the Lancers on Friday night.

The Lancers started the game strong, after the Lions took the first point of the game through a Yulia Glazko kill, the Lancers went on a 7-0 run and took an early 7-1 lead. They carried this momentum throughout the remainder of the first and took the set 25-14 to go up 1-0.

After the teams traded scores on the first six points of the second set, the Lancers went on an 12-1 run to take a 15-4 lead, the Lions went on a run on their own to cut the deficit to single digits at 17-10 but it wasn't enough as the Lancers took the second set by an identical 25-14 score as they did the first, to take a 2-0 lead.

The Lions were down 15-5 in the third but fought back to cut the Lancer lead to three at 23-20, but the Lancers held on for a 25-21 sweeping the Lions in back-to-back matches.

Yulia Glazko, Victoria Herrington and Quincy Johnson led the team in kills with five apiece, while Glazko had two solo blocks and a pair of assisted blocks.
