After earning their third win of the season on Friday night at Ontario Tech, the York University Lions men's basketball team looked to make it two in a row as they headed down the 401 to take on the 7-7 Queens Gaels on Saturday evening in Kingston.
The Gaels rushed to an 14-2 start, with four three-pointers made in the first five minutes. Christopher Williams responded with a three of his own for the Lions and tried to create a spark for his team, but thanks in large part to seven threes, Queens pulled away early and led 34-14 after one.
The Gaels continued to control both sides of the ball, outscoring the Lions 25-11 in the second and leading 59-25 at the break.
The Lions got off to a good start in the third, on a 8-3 run capped by a three from Jerimiah Kwarteng. York was able to win the quarter 23-22, with Kwarteng leading the charge with 10 of his team-high 15. However, the Lions still trailed 81-48 after three.
The Lions outscored the Gaels 25-20 in the final frame, with Malakai Ayres-Olson pouring in 11 of the bench, but the Gaels took the victory 101-73.
